AARON LEWIS TO PERFORM AT MOUNTAINEER CASINO

Chester, WV (February 2, 2015) – Country music star Aaron Lewis will take the stage at the Harv at Mountaineer Casino, Racetrack & Resort to kick off Mountaineer’s 2015 live entertainment season on Saturday, April 25th, 2015.

Known for his powerful vocals and personal, story-telling approach to his music, Aaron Lewis took the country music circuit by storm with his 2011 debut release of Town Line.  Featuring country music legends George Jones and Charlie Daniels, the seven-song EP saw breakout success on the charts, reaching #1 on the Billboard Country Albums Chart and #7 on the Billboard Top 200.    The album was a success among industry critics as well, receiving praise upon its release.  People magazine’s Chuck Arnold said, “He proves to be a natural on nostalgic ballads like ‘The Story Never Ends”, while the Associated Press’ Michael McCall wrote, “He injects a flavor of his own into a polished, commercial country sound in a way that could win over country fans.”

Lewis opened himself up to his audience on The Road, his second studio release.  Personally penning the majority of the songs included on the album, Lewis takes his fans deep into his heart and soul, as well as the personal experiences of his life. The ten songs on the album are a natural profession from Town Line, unfolding with a classic grit and an invigorating energy that is the embodiment of Lewis himself. “I hope people hear the record and realize that this is all me,” states Lewis, reflecting on his journey of producing The Road.  “There’s nothing more to say.  I’m just writing songs like I have been for my whole career.”

Aaron Lewis will perform at Mountaineer Casino, Racetrack & Resort on Saturday, April 25th, 2015 at 8pm in the Harv, Mountaineer’s premiere indoor entertainment venue.  Tickets are general admission by section and start at just $20 plus taxes and fees.  Reserved seating is also available and is located in the first four center rows.  Tickets go on sale Thursday, February 12th at 10am and can be purchased online at MOREatMountaineer.com and etix.com, in person at Mountaineer’s Guest Services or by calling 800-804-0468 ext. 8723.

MOUNTAINEER CASINO COLLECTS CLOTHING FOR AREA CHARITY

IMG_0819

Chester, WV (December 29, 2014)- Mountaineer Casino, Racetrack and Resort teamed up with Ohio-based charity The Christmas Clothes Closet to collect hundreds of articles of clothing on Friday, December 26th.

Mountaineer’s “Swap & Win” event encouraged casino patrons to donate an article of clothing, new with the store tags attached, in exchange for a chance to swipe at the promotional kiosks to win up to $500 in free play.

The Christmas Clothes Closet out of Jewett, Ohio, is a charity owned and operated by Kelly Bozeman. Kelly and her family members started the charity to help out local families in need. What started as a small family project has grown into a full force charity that helps thousands of families in the tri-state area all year round.

Bozeman and family members were on hand on Friday to greet Mountaineer patrons and assist with the collection of the clothes. 334 articles of women’s, men’s and children’s clothing were donated, an amount that Bozeman said will “help a lot of families in need this year.”

The generosity of Mountaineer’s patrons comes as no surprise to General Manager Chris Kern. “The patrons of Mountaineer come in full force during our charitable promotions. Our area is one that is known for banding together in support of those who are in need,” stated Kern. “While the requirement of participation in our Swap and Win was one new article of clothing, many patrons brought in several or asked how and when they could donate more. The spirit of generosity flows through our people, both staff and patrons, and is yet another reason we are very proud to be a member of this community.”

MOUNTAINEER ANNOUNCED REVAMPED BUFFET MENU

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MOUNTAINEER ANNOUNCED REVAMPED BUFFET MENU

Chester, WV (November 25, 2014)- Mountaineer Casino has debuted a fresh new menu at the Riverfront Buffet, the all-you-can-eat dining option known for its variety of cuisines from around the world.  The menu includes exciting new options in addition to revamped buffet favorites.

The selections came on the heels of Mountaineer’s merger with Eldorado, a Reno-based gaming family with properties in Nevada and Louisiana.  The merger led to the creation of Eldorado Resorts Inc., the newly-formed parent company which is now over the six properties, spanning two coasts and 5 states.

Eldorado is headed by the Carano’s, a family with deep ties in the hospitality and gaming industries.  Gregg Carano, Senior Vice President of Food and Beverage, has been pioneering the efforts to revamp the properties’ menus by bringing a bit of Reno flavor to the East Coast.  His premiere dish “Tortellini Eldorado”, freshly made tortellini with an alfredo sauce and vegetables, can be found at the lunch and dinner buffets served at the Riverfront Buffet.  Other featured dishes included Swiss steak with mushroom demi, meat ravioli Bolognese, chicken parmesan, baked chicken with rosemary buttery and home-made pizza with a variety of toppings.

Starting on December 5th, the Riverfront Buffet will also feature Gregg’s Seafood Fest Buffet.  Available on Fridays throughout the month from 4pm-9pm, guests can partake in all-you-can-eat crab legs and a variety of seafood options for $29.99.  Members of Mountaineer’s INClub, the casino’s rewards card program, are eligible for a special rate of $24.99 when showing their card and valid ID when ordering at the Riverfront Buffet.

In addition to the all-you-can-eat crab legs, the new seafood buffet will showcase a vast array of aquatic delicacies including mussels, peel & eat shrimp, calamari, fried scallops, clam bake, pan seared white fish, seafood ravioli, shrimp Bolognese and more.

“The blending of our two companies has brought upon many exciting changes across all of our properties,” said Chris Kern, general manager of Mountaineer Casino.  “We are excited at all of the new changes that have swept across Mountaineer in the last few weeks and look forward to providing an even more rewarding experience for our guests in the future.”

The Riverfront Buffet is open for lunch daily from 11:30am – 4pm.  Dinner hours are Sunday – Friday 4pm-9pm and Saturday 4pm – 10pm.   This outlet is open to all ages and no reservations are required.

MOUNTAINEER CASINO’S POKER ROOM TEAMS UP WITH LOCAL CHARITY FOR TOY DRIVE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MOUNTAINEER CASINO’S POKER ROOM TEAMS UP WITH LOCAL CHARITY FOR TOY DRIVE

Chester, WV (November 18, 2014)- The River Poker Room of Mountaineer Casino held a toy drive on Saturday, November 8, 2014 and collected over 400 toys to benefit a local charity that helps families in need during the holidays.

2014 marked the 7th year of the “Thanks-giving Poker Tournament”, a poker tournament where Poker patrons receive 500 additional chips for every unwrapped toy they donate.   Christine Stacy, the manager of the Poker room, was pleased to announce the success of the toy drive on Saturday, with Poker patrons donating over 400 toys for the tournament.

This year, Mountaineer Casino teamed up with The Christmas Clothes Closet, a charity based in Jewett, Ohio.  The Christmas Closet is a self-funded organization ran by Kelly Bozeman.  The charity started as a way to help local families in need with holiday items but has grown significantly over the years.  This year, thousands of families are anticipated to attend their Christmas giveaway on December 17th at the Sally Buffalo Park Lodge in Cadiz, Ohio from 8am – 8pm.  The Christmas giveaway includes toys, clothes, household items, decorations and more.  There will also be a raffle of fully-trimmed Christmas trees that will be given away during the event.

“When the Poker room first opened,  we wanted to give back to this community by donating toys to local children in need.  The participation has been phenomenal over the years!  We’ve had things as large as bikes and doll houses donated and have collected over 3,000 toys in our 7 years,” said Christine Stacy, manager of Mountaineer’s Poker Room.  “Our poker team loves being a part of something so wonderful and we feel there is nothing greater than knowing we had a small part in making a child smile during the holidays.”

The Christmas Closet accepts donations year-round and is always looking for new community partners.  To learn more about how you can help, visit The Christmas Closet on Facebook at www.Facebook.com/ChristmasClothesCloset .

MOUNTAINEER CASINO ANNOUNCES BIG MENU CHANGES AT BIG AL’S

the_boss

Chester, WV (November 18, 2014)- Mountaineer Casino has revamped its menu at Big Al’s, the 24 hour delicatessen featuring sandwiches, pizza, baked goods and Starbucks coffee.  The menu features many old favorites in addition to fresh, new options that have just made their debut on the menu.

“MTR’s merger with Eldorado and the Carano family, becoming Eldorado Resorts Inc., has given us the opportunity to combine forces and utilize our different strengths in order to make one premiere gaming company. The Carano’s come from a family that is deeply rooted in the hospitality industry.  One of our top objectives as a new company is to evaluate each outlet and see where we can enhance our performance,” said Chris Kern, general manager of Mountaineer Casino. “We feel the menu changes at Big Al’s will provide our guests with delicious new tastes that are available around the clock and we are pleased to report that the all-new menu has produced much excitement amongst both staff and patrons.”

Gregg Carano, resident foodie and Eldorado Resorts Senior Vice President of Food and Beverage, played an integral role in the revamped menu items.   Carano brought some of Reno’s favorites to the East Coast, including his signature sandwich “The Carano”, which consists of smoked ham, capicola ham, salami, pepperoni, provolone cheese, grilled peppers & onions and pesto mayonnaise.

Big Al’s is no stranger to renovations.   Earlier this year, the delicatessen opened up in its new location in the heart of the gaming floor next to the Riverfront Buffet and unveiled its new look after combining forces with the Java Joint and The Ice Cream Stand.  While the same great tastes can be found in the same location, Big Al’s has taken on a throwback theme by paying homage to the Roarin’ 20s, a decade known for its affinity for speakeasies and renegade gangsters.  Where else can you find Dean Martin, Lucky Luciano and Bugsy Siegel residing peacefully under one roof?

For those missing mom’s homemade cooking, any of Big Al’s gang can be paired with our new home-style side dishes, including House Made Beef Chili, Mama’s Chicken Noodle Soup, and made from scratch potato salad, cole slaw and macaroni salad.

Big Al’s is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and is the ideal restaurant outlet for those who are wanting a quick bite to eat between games or the sit-down experience of your favorite deli café.  For a complete list of available menu items, visit Mountaineer’s website at www.MOREatMountaineer.com.

THE HARV ENTERTAINMENT CENTER AT MOUNTAINEER CASINO IS AN ENTERTAINMENT HUB FOR THE LAST 14 YEARS

Chester, WV (August 26, 2014) The Harv reaches its 14th year of operation at Mountaineer Casino, Racetrack & Resort in August and the entertainment center has hosted its share of national entertainers since opening its doors in 2000.

“The Harv is an entertainment hub in the tri-state area,” general manager Chris Kern said.  “In 2013, we saw over 35,000 guests walk through its doors to be entertained by numerous first class shows.”

The highly anticipated concert season runs from April to November each year and draws large audiences due to its versatile line up.   Rock, Country, R&B, Comedy and sporting events are all hosted within the confines of the Harv.

The 2014 schedule has featured powerhouse entertainers, such as: Aaron Lewis, Bret Michaels, Kenny Rodgers, Keith Sweat, Josh Turner, comedian  Bill Engvall, , Kool & the Gang,  Veterans of SNL:  Rob Schneider, Jon Lovitz and Tim Meadows, Jamey Johnson and professional boxing.

Upcoming shows include Gladys Knight (Sep 13), Travis Tritt (Sep 27), Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo (Oct 11) and Loretta Lynn (Nov 8).

In 2000, this steel-framed structure was built over the course of 80 days on top of a golf course.  Aaron Glover, who served on the crew of contractors and employees that built the Harv has fond memories of opening day. “We had to hold off opening the doors so the painters could finish,” he said with a laugh.  “The paint was drying as we welcomed our first patrons into the facility.”

The entertainment center, with its “too small to be big, too big to be small” stature took to Vegas-inspired entertainment, booking legends like Paul Anka, Julio Iglesias, Frank Sinatra Jr and Wayne Newton.  As the venue evolved and gained popularity to a more-diverse audience, the star-studded list expanded to include such acts as Ted Nugent and Cheaptrick, to name a few.

Known for more than just live concerts, this multi-purpose facility has been the home to food shows, Irish dance competitions, Lunar New Year’s parties, Cajunfest, various corporate tradeshows, and sporting events such as professional boxing, power lifting competitions and professional bull riding. For many years, it has been the home of the Chester VFD’s Fall Bash.  The reputation for having the capacity and experience of handling such a diverse set of events is what makes the Harv an ideal booking venue.

“Whatever you could possibly list… If you can think of it, chances are we have hosted it at the Harv,” Glover said.

“The pride in this facility is what keeps us growing strong,” he said.  “Everyone who has had the pleasure of working here can honestly say that the Harv is as much a part of us as we are a part of the Harv.”

TEAM MEMBERS AT MOUNTAINEER RAMP UP SAVE MY JOB EFFORTS IN FACE OF POSSIBLE COUNTY SMOKING BAN

Mountaineer Casino's Racing Department stands united against the proposed smoking ban in Hancock County WV

Chester, WV (August 19, 2014) Team members at Mountaineer Casino, Racetrack & Resort are joining together to show their unity in the face of a possible smoking ban in Hancock County that will harm business for the casino.

Racing department employees lived up to their name when they donned their ‘Save My Job’
T-shirts and took a jaunt from the starting box. The run down the racetrack event was captured in a photograph and shared with the world on Mountaineer’s Facebook page.

Racing is the latest department to post a photograph team members have created while wearing their ‘Save My Job’ T-shirts. Other departments that have gotten into the act include Facilities, Slots, Marketing and Food & Beverage.

“Our team members are concerned about their future as the potential smoking ban looms for the county and Mountaineer,” Chris Kern, general manager said. “They are showing their unity to the public while waiting for the Hancock County Board of Health’s decision.”

Kern added that he did meet recently with Jackie Huff, Administrator of the Board of Health. The two discussed the impact of the potential ban and Kern reiterated the concessions that Mountaineer was willing to make, particularly the offer to make reasonable accommodations to allow team members to work in other areas of the building if they didn’t want to work in a smoking environment.

“In West Virginia, 27 of the 28 counties with smoking bans have made some exemptions for local businesses, we are merely asking Hancock county to do the same” Kern said.

Mountaineer has offered to make 80% of its hotel, 10% of the gaming floor and 100% of public areas including all restaurants, trackside areas, banquet and meeting facilities, the Harv entertainment facility, the spa and the gift shop all non-smoking.

“While we await the final decision of the Board, our employees continue to pull together in efforts to safeguard their jobs with these types of efforts,” Kern added. “We are all hopeful that the economic impact of a smoking ban on the state, county and Mountaineer will be considered at the time of the vote and that certain exemptions will be allowed.”

LORETTA LYNN TO PERFORM AT MOUNTAINEER CASINO, RACETRACK & RESORT

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LORETTA LYNN TO PERFORM AT MOUNTAINEER CASINO, RACETRACK & RESORT

Chester, WV (August 14, 2014) – Mountaineer Casino, Racetrack & Resort is pleased to announce the return of country music legend and coal miner’s daughter Loretta Lynn in a stand out performance at the Harv on Saturday, November 8th.

Known for her simple, blue collar attitude and recognizable delivery, Loretta Lynn is not only one of the greatest country music voices in history but also a role model for the women in the industry. Her no-holds-barred attitude comes out in songs such as “You Ain’t Woman Enough” and “Fist City.” No stranger to controversy, Lynn wasn’t afraid to touch on delicate topics of the time, from divorce in the song “Rated X”, war, covered in the song “Dear Uncle Sam”, and female liberation in the song “The Pill”, songs that lead to her being banned by many radio stations.

Lynn’s tremendous story of being raised in dire poverty in Appalachia as one of seven children in her musically inclined family can be seen in her film biopic Coal Miner’s Daughter. She recalls of her younger years, “Everybody in my family sang. So I really didn’t understand until I left Butcher Holler that there were some people who couldn’t. And it was kind of a shock.”

It was her creative way of singing about what she was living and having the bravado to sing about things that nobody talked about in public that gave her the steely likeability and charisma that Lynn exhibits every time she steps on stage. As she would say, “I ain’t a star– a star is something up in the night sky. People say to me, ‘You’re a legend.’ I’m not a legend. I’m just a woman.”

Loretta Lynn will perform at Mountaineer Casino, Racetrack & Resort on Saturday, November 8th at 8pm at the Harv. Tickets are general admission by section and start at just $20 plus taxes and fees. Reserved seating is available and is located in the first four center rows. Tickets go on sale August 21 at 10am and can be purchased at MOREatMountaineer.com, etix.com, at Mountaineer’s players club or by calling 800-80-40-HOT (800-804-0468) ext. 8297.
